When you start looking for a highchair, there is an exceptionally good chance that someone will suggest the Stokke Tripp Trapp. This venerable highchair has been popular with parents for decades, to such a degree that many consider if the highchair to own. Stokke Tripp Trapp

The Stokke Tripp Trapp was introduced in 1972. The creation of Norwegian designer Peter Opsvik, the Stokke Tripp Trapp had a sleek and simple design and was made of Solid European beechwood. Opsvik brilliantly created a chair that had an adjustable seat and footrest, allowing it to grow with the child.

The Stokke Tripp Trapp comes as either the Tripp Trapp Chair, or the Stokke Tripp Trapp Complete, with the Complete version including everything you need for baby: the Tripp Trapp frame, the Stokke Baby Set with 5-point harness, a Tripp Trapp Tray, extended safety gliders to prevent the chair from tipping, and a cushion. The Tripp Trapp Chair, as the name implies, is simply the frame.

What makes the Stokke Tripp Trapp so great? Aside from the timeless and elegant design, the Stokke Tripp Trapp accepts your child from about 6 months of age using the Baby Set attachment (or even from birth using the optional Newborn Set) and continues to accommodate them as they grow by simply adjusting the seat and footrest.

In fact, the chair can hold up to 242 pounds, meaning that your child can use it right up to the teenage years and even beyond, unlike typical highchairs that are used for a short period and then discarded.

There are essentially 3 stages of use:

Newborn.

At this stage, the chair is great for giving baby a safe place of their own. Using the Newborn Set, they are lifted away from nosy pets or curious toddler siblings.

It slides up to the table easily, allowing your little one to join you at mealtime, even from the youngest age.

Baby.

This is what we normally think of when we think of highchairs. Using the Baby Set, your child is now enjoying solid foods and either sitting at the table like the rest of the family or using their own tray.

At this point especially, you will love how easy it is to clean the Stokke Tripp Trapp.

Older Child.

Once your child reaches about 3 years of age, a typical highchair gets put away, but not the Stokke Tripp Trap. Simply remove the Baby Set and use the chair on its own, all the way into adulthood. That's the value!

The Nomi Highchair has become incredibly popular in its own right, and if you find that the sleek styling is somehow reminiscent of the Stokke Tripp Trapp, blame the inventor because once again it is Peter Opsvik who created the Nomi in 2013, after the birth of his first granddaughter.

With 40 years of design experience now under his belt, Peter set out to create an even better chair. And the result is the Nomi.

The Nomi built upon what Peter had learned with the Stokke Tripp Trapp. It is lightweight (only 5 kg) and made of recyclable material that is free from all harmful substances.

Like the Stokke Tripp Trapp, the Nomi can adapt to your growing child, adjusting easily and without tools. The designs of the seat and footrest leaves no hidden crevices for food and liquid to fall into, making cleanup incredibly easy.

Some of the design features include a stem made of steam-bent beech veneer covered with oak veneer in the basic version, or a premium stem made of steam-bent oak or walnut veneer, treated with natural oil. The unique shape of the stem ensures correct adjustment of seat and footrest depth.

Small wheels located on the rear legs of the chair are an important safety consideration. If a child abruptly pushes away from the table, the wheels reduce the risk of tilting, which the Tripp Trapp had addressed by adding safety gliders.
